Jobs at Film Series
Like watching movies? Do you want to pick the films we show every semester? Then consider a job at Film Series! We offer a variety of positions depending on what you’re interested in.
Why join Film Series? We are Tufts only on campus movie theatre ! We show over thirty films each semester, ranging from Hollywood Blockbusters to classic independent films. As a member, you can vote to decide which films are shown each term.
Film Series is in the process of growing its business and we need new members to help in this transition period. If you are interested in a job or position within Film Series, take a look at our current offerings below.
Projectionists
The projectionist is the most important member of the club. He or she runs the film showings each weekend and makes sure all things in the theatre run smoothly. This position is paid and entails a $10 wage per movie shown. Additional services such as splicing and de-splicing films can amount to an additional monthly payment of $5 per show.
Chair
The chairman or chairwoman is responsible for the weekly meetings, approving all personnel responsibilities, and organizing the group. He or she is the public face of the club and is the general manager.
Treasurer
The treasurer maintains the budget of the club. With an annual budget of over $50,000, the treasurer has an important position in the club. The on-time payment of the film companies and shippers makes the rest of the club run more smoothly.
Programmer
The programmer organizes the semester’s schedule of movies, the shipment and delivery of movies, and the feasibility of other events, while coordinating with the rest of the executive committee as a whole. The Programmer is essential to the smooth running of the club, and the role is pivotal to the club’s professionalism. It is also highly rewarding.
Advertising Executive & Advertising Committee
The advertiser publicizes the club on campus and is in charge of advertising before the shows and organizing co-sponsorships. The advertiser also maintain the pre-show advertisements, including updating the movie trivia and club information. Good advertising is key to maintaining high attendance at each showing.
Head Projectionist
The head projectionist maintains the booth and other equipment so it stays in working order. The head projectionist also helps train and encourage new projectionists, familiarizing them with new skills needed to show movies.
Webmaster
The webmaster maintains the Film Series domain and makes sure all information on the site is current. The webmaster is also in charge of maintaining Film Series’s web presence.
Pre-show Master
The Pre-show Master makes the advertisement reel that shows before every film screening.
Secretary
Guess what a secretary does. Just guess.
